Do you have the latest version of DivX? I was having this problem too (I
think COM Surrogate handles creation of thumbnails, but I'm not sure) and
the pervious version of DivX didn't get along well with Vista.

After I updated to the latest version of DivX these errors went away.

Michael seems right on the money here.

If not -- what crash bucket number do you get in the Problem Reports and
Solutions center:
http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#bucket
?

The 6.2(?) version of that codec would cause this type of crash, if I recall
correctly - if you could clarify what bucket number you're getting, that
would be great. Most crash buckets should already point you to this update
from them.
