At start up my computer quite frequently hits the following error.

The COM+ Event System detected a bad return code during its internal
processing. HRESULT was C0000005 from line 44 of
d:\qxp_slp\com\com1x\src\events\tier1\eventsystemobj.cpp. Please
contact Microsoft Product Support Services to report this error.

When I start the computer I get a "system tray error". Several of the
programs that I start do just that, however they do not function. I
need to use task manager to close the programs and start them again.

I've looked at services didn't see anything suspicious running. I've
run MS Anti Spyware, Adaware, SpyBot, and Norton WinDoctor in an attempt
to clean out what ever is causing this problem. No luck.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!!!

I had the same error a couple of months ago and was unable to find any clue.
I googled around for a long time and after a long time the only result was
that probably my mobo was about to die.
That was the only thing I could find with google and I changed mobo. Now the
problem has gone :-)
No one had the same kind of error and if search around with google you will
find the same post easily: Microsoft knowledgebase was useless and I wonder
if, apart from changing an old motherboard, it was really the only solution.
Who knows? I could take back to life the old pc but do not want to spend
time on it.

Sorry for being tragical,
Stefano
