colums up so i can have a split page any help would be brill thanks

If you have Word 2000 or above, a better option is to use the "2 pages per
sheet" or (in Word 2002/2003) "Book fold" choice on the Margins tab of Page
Setup. But see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/UsingColumns.htm

If I interpret this correctly, you want to have content on one side of the
page with other content adjacent to it, in which case you *don't* want to
use Columns. Columns are 'newspaper' columns that run top to bottom, left to
right...

Use a 2-column Table instead.

FWIW, I usually *do* use columns for this type of layout, but the advice I
gave to "as12345" is still better. There are many things you can do in a
column that you can't do (or can't do as easily) in a table, including
flowing text from one column to the next, as is usually required by this
sort of folded program.
