Column values are numbers not letters, how to change back

My excel starts with both the rows and columns as numbers.
This happens even when i open other spreadsheets that look
normal on other computers running excel. How do i change
excel back to NORMAL????

Tools > Options > General Tab
Remove check from "R1C1 Reference style"
