column headings

Hi
I downloaded a link off the internet, and the information I wanted was in excel format. Well, in what I downloaded, both the column and the row headings were numbers, where as before, the columns were labeled A-Z, etc and the rows were 1-some very large number. I can't figure out how to get the column labeling back to letters. can someone help

tools=>Options=>General Tab, unselect R1C1 Reference Style
