Column Headings changed

Opened file in excel format from main system which then changed the column heads on all my spreadsheets from a, b, c etc. to number (1, 2, 3 etc.) makes reading and verifying formulas difficult. Rows remained numeric
For example instead of sum showing as a1:f1, now shows rc(-11)+rc(-7). How do I reset the columns to a, b, c etc
 
Go to Tools > Options > General (tab) and uncheck "R1C1 reference style".
