Colour Printing

I had a HP 940c that stopped printing Magenta, all other colours were present. I got rid of printer and bought a hp psc 1110 all-in-one that I have trouble installing. At first it printed OK. Now I have the same trouble, no magenta. I surmise now that the trouble is with the instruction from computer to printer. I know of no way of checking out the problem, Can anybody out there resucue my sanity?. I really don't want to format the drive and re-install everything again ( 3 weeks work )
I am running Windows XP on a computer with AMD Athlon 1600+

More likely the trouble is clogged jets in the printer or lack of ink in
the printer. My guess is you use either a lot of magenta or only a little,
one causing it to run out first the other causing it to dry out first. I
have never heard of this as a computer problem and I don't believe it is
likely.
