How can I recreate the default color schemes in PowerPoint 2003? Somehow I
know longer have the 9 default schemes, but 5 schemes that don't look nearly
as good.

I'm using the blank template that first comes up.

Which template are you using? Not all of them have as many color schemes --
and not all are the same.

http://www.echosvoice.com/colorschemes.htm will get you started, though.

I think I found the problem, but not the solution. It seems that when I
start PowerPoint it is using Blank.POT instead of Default Design.POT

Any idea how I might fix this?

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the Critical
Update or Service Pack 1 for Office 2003 as soon as possible. From
PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for Updates".]

[TOP ISSUE - Are you having difficulty opening presentations in PowerPoint
that you just created (you can save, but not open)? -

Hello,

"Default Design.POT" doesn't actually exist as a file. To get PowerPoint to
use it instead of a custom default design (such as "BLANK.POT") in
PowerPoint 2003 you can use this REALLY COOL method (NEW in PowerPoint
2003):

1) Open new presentation
2) Format -> Slide Design
3) In the "Available for Use" section of the Slide Design task pane, click
on the drop-down menu for "Default Design.pot" and choose "Use for All New
Presentations"

Done!!

I see that John's given you a great tip, but you can also create your own
templates, either based on existing templates or from scratch. See
http://www.indezine.com/products/powerpoint/ppcreatemp.html for a nice
tutorial.

I set Default Design.POT as the default for all slides but when I closed and
then opened PowerPoint again it was back to Blank.POT. I found Blank.POT on
my computer, deleted it and now Default Design.POT is the default for all the
slides.

Thanks!

Did you choose the menu item "Apply to all slides" or "Use for all new
presentations"?

"Apply to all slides" does not change the default for new presentations. It
only affects the slides in the current presentation.
