I am using Excel 2002. I am placing a color logo in the
header, but it will not preview or print in color even
when the rest of the document does. Any advise?

Thanks for the help!

Hi Wendy!

I saw this Yesterday and watched for an answer. None!

So off to Google and Help (As a last resort <g>)

Extract from Help:
Note You cannot change the color of header and footer text. I think
that will go for inserted graphics as well.

Maybe you could achieve what you want on the workbook itself rather
than in the header and footers.

With XL2002.......

Custom Header>Insert Picture button>go find the picture to insert and
double-click on it.

Edit Picture(right of Insert Picture button). You can edit the size and color
of the picture. Make sure Color is set to "Automatic".

Prints color graphic as Header.

Hi Gord!

That's useful. Didn't come up in Help or a quick Google.

Gord,
I tried that and it still isn't working. I have already
set the printer for this document to the color printer,
and as I stated previously the rest of the document does
print color...only the header does not. Any other ideas?

I have no problem showing or printing a colored graphic in a header or footer
using XL2002.

I'm not sure why you are experiencing difficulty.
That is the way that Excel treats headers and footers.
Prior to XL2002 only.

With XL2002.......

Custom Header>Insert Picture button>go find the picture/logo to insert and
double-click on it.

Edit Picture(right of Insert Picture button). You can edit the size and color
of the picture. Make sure Color is set to "Automatic".

Shows in color in Print Preview and Prints color graphic as Header.

Correction to my post.

You cannot "edit" the color. You can only alter which mode it prints out.

Picture Tab>Color>Automatic, gray scale, black and white, washout.

I'd forgotten that Excel 2002 could do color in headers and footers.

While searching for color in headers and footers to see if Excel 2002
really did support color in headings and footings, I found it interesting
that the much older Excel 3 supported color.

Excel 3.0! Interesting for sure. After about 8 revisions we have come full
circle. Well, not quite full......can't format Font Color in XL2002.

Gord,
I have made sure the color is set to "Automatic", I am not
looking for the text to print in color, only the picture.
It is a color graphic and shows as color until I look at
the print preview. Other documents with different color
headers print fine, just not this one...any ideas? Is it
time to recreate the document?
