I use Rainbow Folders.exe to color folders on XP is there a better program,
as folders lose color if renamed, and have to be recolored.

I use a program called DeFolders that was offered by PC Magazine and
Zif-Davis several years ago. It is still free, but you have to pay
them $15 (guess) for a subscription to the web site and then you can
download the programs. I don't know if it is still being offered.

If you can't find it email me at 'seabat3 at warpmail dot net' and I
will send it to you. It's about 450kb and I'll include a zip file with
a bunch of different styles and colors of folders if you want it.

What I like about this program is that is can show a different color
between the closed and open folders in your file list.

Hi Grumpy,

This happens because the program writes the absolute path (to the icon file)
in the Desktop.ini.

Example:
IconFile=G:\Documents and Settings\Ramesh\Desktop\Hotfix\Ikona1628047231.ico

This makes the folder icon to revert back, when renamed.

The following should be enough, as long as the .ico is within that folder

IconFile=Ikona1628047231.ico

You may write to the author of that particular program about this.

Thanks Seabat and Ramesh, I think I will try to convince Rainbow Folders v1.2
to update as I am used to rainbow.

You're welcome Grumpy.
