I'm seeking away to share a WORD document on my company's Intranet and have
multiple employees open the document and add their information to compile the
document each month. Is it possible to post a WORD document on an Intranet
and have multiple people update the document? Or do we have to have each
employee download the document, make changes, and upload the file back to the
Intranet.

MS have released a new high-end product called SharePoint which does
exactly that. Otherwise I'd investigate VSS (MS) or CVS (Open source),
which is the proper way of attacking change control for multiple
concurrent authors.
