NC,

I *am" a student of Cognitive therapy. I have yet to see a therapist snap
and growl at somebody, and in so many words belittle them. Take a leson
from the other excellent posters here and say something to the effect that
"Your question could best be solved in this _________ NG, as that is where
the "real" experts hang out.

The OP doesn't feel slighted, but rather feels some headway is in the
making.

Curt
Then you may empathize, being a student of C.T., with me in that some 40
years ago I think I may have been the subject in a test on a visit to a
therapist.
It was in the days when one used to fill a pen with ink to write, and after
a few minutes of general chit-chat, this female took her pen and splashed
ink blots on several pieces of blank paper. She folded each one in half and
held them up and asked what I could see.
My replies were of a single collective thought and went something like
this -
"You having sex with a monkey"
"You having sex on a beech"
"You playing with yourself"
"You having the best sex of your life here in this office with me, now"
After about a dozen or so she said to me
"I can see your problem - you have a sexual fixation"
I said to her "I dont think I have the problem. You are the one who keeps
drawing all the dirt filthy pictures"

Oh, my original reason for my reply was to ask if you could possibly keep to
a single post as opposed to starting a new one - most of your posts seem to
be connected with each other.
If you cannot manage that then....................

Cognitive "therapy?" Where did I EVER mention therapy?

Try the cognitive THEORY or learning. If you need to know what that
entails, guess what: you'll have to research it YOURSELF. That way
you'll learn it.

Oh, and please don't reply to an existing thread by starting a new
thread. And don't blame you news reader for this - it's the interface
between the chair and they computer that causes error s like this -
and you do it often.

Oh,
I guess you're "book taught", or learned from some guru.
Try participating in it--you wouldn't last a minute.

"Theories in that realm only go so far...try the "real thing".

WTF are you talking about? I WAS a teacher for 10 years, so I know
how to motivate students and have them actually LEARN something.

At least you did something right this time - you actually responded to
the existing thread instead of starting a new one.
