Thanks for your reply.
If all shows 00 and only idle is 99. What do you think could be the problem
for my computer to keep working real hard to get programs working? I have
two virus programs and none show a virus, but the computer seems to be
working real hard inside.

By the way, thank you for your help, the computer place told me I need to
get a new computer. But I don't think that is the problem, is it?

If idle is showing 99 you don't have a problem as this means your computer
is not doing much
The figures are a percentage so they need to add up to 100 (or nearly).
Look at the performance graph and you will see that your computer is not
doing anything,
start up a program (media player) and watch the processor do some work. You
only have
a problem if the processor is running at 100 and idle is at 0 for long
periods and you aren't doing
anything.

You haven't given it anything to do. Actually, it isn't working at all.

I think he was asking why his computer seems to work so hard just to get
an app open when it isn't doing anything else. But, if he's opening an
app I'm not sure why the Idle process would still be at 99%.

What programme is causing problems? How much RAM memory? How large is
your hard disk and how much free space?

How good is your housekeeping?

Regular and effective housekeeping is essential. What you do and how
often you do it will depend
on how you use your computer. A suggested routine may include:
1. In Outlook Express empty your Deleted Items folder.
2. In Outlook Express run File, Folder, Compact All whilst OFFLINE.
3. Run Disk Cleanup. Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk
Cleanup with
Temporary Internet Files, Offline Web Pages (optional), System Restore
( more Options tab )
and Recycle Bin selected for deletion. If you have more than one drive /
partition you may
need to do this operation for each drive / partition.
4. Remove Cookies. Start, Control Panel, Internet Options, General,
Delete Cookies.
5. Run Disk Defragmenter.

Hi, the original poster said "I have two virus programs and none show a

programs running then I'm not at all surprised that your PC is running
slow. You only need one, remove the other....

As with many messages this message is open to interpetretation. The OP
did not say the problem arose when two anti-virus programmes were
running. He inferred that he had checked with two anti-virus programmes
and they had found no infection. If two anti-virus programmes are
running continually in the background then obviously it would make sense
to turn one off.
