Hi,

I am using Win XP prof (German version).

When I try to start CMD I always get the message that I don't have
the right to access the file.

But I am admin! I checked it - I cannot find any restrictions
concerning my rights.

Curiously, when I start a DOS-programm there is no problem:
The DOS window opens and the application runs.

Thanks for any help!!

Dieter

Dbl click what? You must say what in a way that I can duplicate. I mean I click my icon on the Quick Launch bar or type cmd in Start Run. And it must be exact. If you go to a doctor and say I feel sore then the doctor can't help you. At a minimun you have to say your chest feels sore with some pain in the jaw. Ah-ha the doctor says. Chest could be anything but with a jaw it hints at a heart attack.

Double click on left mouse button.
O.k., more in detail:

Any of my DOS programs can be started

a) using the Windows Explorer and with mouse double click

as well as

b) by typing ???.EXE in "Start - Run"

Both ways does not work with the cmd.exe

Is a/ c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe

I'm getting bored really quick. I said EXACT.

CMD has absolutely nothing to do with Dos, as I've already said. Command.com is the Dos command prompt. Starting a dos program does not start CMD. Start a dos program in cmd (if you could) then kill cmd.exe in Task Manager. You dos program doesn't care. Starting a dos program in Start Run does not start cmd either. Dos programs (and Win 16) run in NTVDM.

So with the above noted is there any reason you are talking about Dos.

What does task manager say after you try to start cmd. Is it running and invisable?

I cannot

Trying to start CMD prompts

"Auf das angegebene Gerät, bzw. den Pfad oder die Datei kann nicht
zugegriffen werden. Sie verfügen eventuell nicht über ausreichende
Berechtigungen, um auf das Element zugreifen zu können."

i.e.

" no access to the device or path or file or you don't have
sufficient access rights for this element"

This is your last chance. You either answer all questions I asked or go somewhere else.

Really VERY kind.

If I say it does NOT start then obvioulsy there is NO process running.
But to be EXACT I started the task manager and controlled it.

As you seem not to be a native english speaker perhaps you should post in the Germain groups. You'll likely understand what they say to you and they'll likely know what the error message is. I think it's the security one but can't be sure as it's germain and as you don't understand my questions it's best to ask where you belong. Germain groups are the most popular after english.
