Windows XP SP1

On a single machine I have an issue whereby if I go to
Admin | Services - the Extended Services do not display
(just a blue "blob" appears). Similarly, if I press F3
the typical options do not appear (just Search Companion
and address box and nothing else). IE also doesn't
display certain websites correctly and Windows Update
displays nothing and just "Done" appears bottom left.

I do know that the issue arose because I had an issue
with NAV2003 and NAV Corporate Edition conflicting. In
attempting to sort this issue I mistakenly went through
registry deleted NAV/Symantec reg entries. This cured the
problem but, as I was deleting one key, I noticed it
flash up with an entry that was NOT related to NAV.
Unfortunately, by time I realised this it had gone.

I've tried registering various dll's as per MS KBase - to
no avail.

Would be grateful for any ideas !

Thanks
Mike

Yup, nothing like something from Symantec to rip up a system! Don't
understand how anyone still uses any crapware from them. If you remember
what the deleted key was and it's from an application, reinstall the
application. If the key is a system key, you MIGHT be able to get it back
by reapplying SP1 and then the applicable Windows Updates. Otherwise, I
think you are SOL. Sorry...
