Is there anybody in this newsgroup who did close a particular TCP or UDP port successfully in XP pro? If such an expert exist, please share the secret.
Thanks,
MK

Yes, I have. The secret is to stop unnecessary services ...but I have a feeling that that's not the solution you're looking for.

What exactly are you trying to do? ...elaborate please.

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

Please change this in your newsreader. Usenet is not an HTML medium, nor is
it MIME. Post only text.

How to close unnecessary services like daytime or echo?

daytime and echo are part of the "Simple TCP/IP Services" that are optional
components of your Windows installation. From the Control Panel, select
"Add or Remove Programs", and use that to add/remove Windows Components.
You should find the Simple TCP/IP Services in a section under there.
