Closing Internet Explorer

No longer can I close any web pages on my internet explorer. My temporary fix is Cont-Alt-Delete to the task manager and then ending the task. Every single way I know of to close a web page is not working except for the above.
 
Hi Mark,

Reinstall Internet Explorer. Go to the Control Panel/Folder Options/View
tab, set it to "Show hidden files and folders" and uncheck "Hide protected
operating system files [recommended]". Also uncheck "Hide extensions for
known file types".

Then, open Windows Explorer from Start/All Programs and go to the
C:\Windows\Inf folder. Locate the ie.inf file, right-click it and choose
install.

You may need to either insert your WinXP CD or know where your I386 folder
is located on the hard drive. You may also need to know where the
\ServicePackFiles folder is (usually under the Windows directory).

I to had a similiar problem. If you are using XP Home Addition this will probably work for you also
1. Start Internet Explorer 6
2.Click on "Tools"; Internet Options
3. Click on the "Advanced" tab
4. Cursor down to the line saying "Java (Sun)
5. Uncheck the box saying "Use Java 2 v....
6. Restart Windows and try Internet Explorer, you should be able to close the program using the "X" box in the upper right corner of the window or any other way you normally close the Browser

Man, I have the same problem with my CPU. did anyone tell u how to fix this....if anyone does please respond..much appreciated Thanks
