Man oh man. YOu are going to feel like Bill Gates when you see how easy
this one is: Just press F4 while holding down the ALT key. Of course if you
WERE Bill Gates you would probably just hire someone to press ALT-F4 for you.
There are many such HOTKEYS which will work on whatever window is currently
the "active" window. For a list of hotkeys, just click on the menu bar
(File, Edit, Format, etc...) and note the hotkeys listed next to each
command.
Cut, paste and print this list of hotkeys for Notepad to get you started:

New CTRL-N
Open CTRL-O
Print CTRL-P
Save CTRL-S
Undo CTRL-Z
Find CTRL-F
Find next F3
Current date F5
Replace CTRL-H
Select all CTRL-A
As you discover a new hotkey, write it down and practice it a few times in
order to commit it to memory. Hotkeys speed up computing in Windows and
other programs too since most programs designed to run on windows will use
much the same hotkey scheme (with notable exceptions), so hotkeys are worth
learning.
Once you see how easy hotkeys can make things you may want to explore macros
for your desktop to automate certain tasks.
