Sorry, a simple question -

Is there a way of displaying date as well as time on the clock display is
systray (other than making the task bar 3 'rows' tall?

Not natively.. you will have to look for a third party program to do this..

The only japanese I know are a few words for ordering sushi and sashimi
- which I love. But the program works well and the time is displayed in
english...lol.
