Clipboard problems

Why does the clipboard say, "Item not collected" when I try to copy or cut
text? The last time I used Word (2003) this did not happen, but sometimes
when I open it this happens. I quit and restarted, but I'm still getting the
same result. I don't know if the text is somehow not supported, so I don't
know what to change. The text I'm trying to copy is bold and blue and says,
"PLEASE USE THE CLOCK."

"Item not collected" means, in theory, that you have copied something in a
format that Office doesn't understand - or support. Clearly that isn't the
case with a bit of formatted text.

Other possible reasons are shortage of memory or, maybe, something else
running which, in some way, impedes the action of the Office Clipboard. Have
you installed - or started using - some new software?
