Hi,
I have installed a wireless network with 4 PC's; 3 running
XP Pro & 1 running XP Home.
One of the XP Pro machines is connected to a DSL via a
router/modem. This 'Gateway' machine and all three clients
can get internet access over the network without a
problem. Also all three clients can see each other and
file share etc via a workgroup.
The problem I have is that the 'Gateway' machine cannot
see or be seen on the network. Looking at the network
connection properties 'Client for Microsft Networks' is
not checked and the check box appears greyed out. I have
tried uninstalling and reinstalling but this causes a
problem with Winsock which then prevents the Gateway
machine browsing the internet.
I found a utility through this newsgroup called
WinsockXPFix which resolves the winsock problem - but then
disables 'Client for Microsoft Networking' putting me back
where I started.
Has anybody any ideas what might be going on here - and a
way I can resolve it?
Thanks
