Clicking to right of a line selects the line

In my Word 2003, selecting to the right of a line of text selects the line, so typing then replaces it. This makes it difficult to type after an interupption, as I need to click EXACTLY after the last letter. Can I please go back to the old behaviour (Word 2k) whereby clicking tot he right simply puts the cursor at the end of the line, or is this some unalterable politically correct rule requiring clicks to the right and left of a line to be treated equally for those using right to left languages?

This is probably attributable to right to left language support as I have
disabled that on my copy and I don't have the problem you are encountering.
If you don't need it, disable it.

OK, so how do I "disable" right-to-left support......I can't find an option in either regional settings (Win2K) or Word 2003
 
From Windows > start > programs > Microsoft Office > Microsoft Office Tools
Microsoft Office Language settings - disable support for Asian languages.

That did it thanks.....I didn't even know that this separate program existed.....perhaps it should have a link, or at least a mention on the other programs' options pages
