Clicking on the Status Bar Terminates Word in 2003XP

Every time I go to my desktop from Word, then click on the status bar to
switch application back to Word in Windows XP (with multiple XP Word Sessions
running), all Word applications abrutly terminate, dumping my work. (This
smells like a virus, but I cannot find a trace of one if it is.) Also, I
can't rule out Office bugs. Anyone else experiencing this profanity?
