I have just had windows XP re-installed after getting a virus or
spyware on my system. Anyway it now makes a stupid clicking sound when
I open up certain windows or click on certain buttons. Can anyone tell
me how to disable this annoying function?

Go to the Sounds applet in Control Panel. The clicking sound is under
Windows Explorer>Start Navigation. You can disable it there by putting
setting it to "None".
