Clearing internet cache

I've tried to upgrade my internet explorer to ie6, but, for some reason once I start to install it, I get a pop-up saying "you need to clear your internet cache". What does this mean and how do I perform the operation.

I don't know why it is prompting - click TOOLS menu|INTERNET OPTIONS and
DELETE FILES, including offline content.
 
Go to internet options..click on delete cookies..delete files..clear
history.
