What is the risk/reward of clearing the recycle bin? Is it feasible to
restore the bin to a folder and then burn this folder to a CD (just to be
safe)?

To take out the garbage. To clean house, as it were.

Do you save all of your full garbage bags in your garage also? Just in
case. ;-) Save to CD if you really want to.

In John R <[email protected]> hunted and pecked:

Burn the files you delete BEFORE you delete them, then delete them, and
empty the recycle bin (files are not easily recoverable, if at all, once
emptied from recycle bin).

More hard drive space, but no longer able to recover files that were in the
bin.

Yes, but you'll probably find it more convenient to use a differential or
incremental backup strategy with an external hard drive.
