clear history

Why? on XP when I hit clear history on internet options,
does it not clear immediately. My windows 98 at work
clears as soon as I click "clear history". At home with xp
it hasn't cleared yet
 
I am not sure why that happens either, but am getting the same problem.

If you find out any patches or cures for our mutual problem, I would love to
hear from you,
