Cleaning Up and Compacting ??

Every since I installed SP2 my computer occasionally starts a "cleaning up"
and "Compacting" program. Can some one explain exactly what is happening,
and why??

This link tells you how to automate it but that's not the reason I'm listing
it, it's also the best description, that I have found, on the Microsoft

Sounds like Clean Manager is running. First thing I would do is check
your scheduled tasks to see if it is in there. If it's not then it is
in your boot config. Run msconfig and delete the Cleanmgr.exe line
from Startup. It should quit running at boot then. If those don't
work, you have some outside program running it.
