I'm wondering if those cleaning disks work on cleaning my dvd burner and rom
drive. Has anyone used them? Is there any possibility of damaging the drive
with them. They have these brushes and I'm wondering if they would do more
harm than good. I keep thinking back to the tape head cleaners and the
damage, especially the dry types, would do to the tape head.

Thanks

Craig

those brush dealies are retarded, as soon as the disk spins the brush is
flattened. IMO a waste of money. if the drives have stopped working/burning
odds are they are history. Open it - q tip - alcohol, don't drown the lens.

yes Open it and also blow out the dust with a dry air can.

You'll be better if you carefully open it and clean it. Odds are that you
have a small fiber/grain of dust layed over lens, so that laser ray is
distorsioned. Avoid plain alcohol for that matter, you could purchase
diamond cleaner fluid somewhere - it's not cheap, but it's the best tool for
the job.

Thanks. I'm not having any problems with them since they're new, I was just
thinking about preventative maintenance. I think the can of air sounds about
right. Thanks to all.
