Can anyone recommend a good cleaner (cache, history, cookies, download
history, etc, etc) for Opera 8.02?

For Opera cache cleaning,
then use Opera's own cleaner

Opera => Tools => Preferences => Advanced => History => Empty on exit => Ok

Hi,

you can just click on these links to add in your personnal buttons dialog :

a button to empty cache:
opera:/button/Clear%20disk%20cache,,,,%22Mail%20Trash%22

a button to clean history:
opera:/button/Clear%20visited%20history,,,,%22Mail%20Trash%22

a button to call "delete private data dialog"
opera:/button/Delete%20private%20data,,,,%22Prefs%20Network%22

just drop (one of) them anywhere on your toolbar ;-)

oups.

sorry i thought it was possible to use directly this kind of "link"...
so, you need to create html file containing at least:
<a href='opera:/button/Clear disk cache,,,,"Mail Trash"' title="CC">Clear
disk cache</a>
easiest way:
http://nontroppo.org/wiki/CustomButtons#security

and sorry again for bad Opera wiki:

Thanks for the link, but it should have been nontroppo.org/wiki/opera ;-)

Tools

Delete private data...

Advanced >> (Check any or all boxes you want)

Delete

Opera will 'remember' your settings the next time you use it.

I'd forgotten that. So Opera will clean it's own history and cookies
when it is closed if one chooses, but what about other things?

I hadn't noticed that option. But it's not automatic and is really
designed for manual use on a shared computer.
