I carried out 'chkdsk' routine and found 'Dirty' sections
on my hard drive. chkdsk has totally failed to 'clean'
them despite scores of attempts. Anyone knows of FREE
effective tool to do the job? Thanks

What do you mean by dirty? Do you mean bad sectors? If so, a bad sector is
forever bad. It is a hard disk defect that may be an indicator of worse to
come!

thanks for the reply. I conducted chkdsk /f routine
checkup and result came back as 'dirty' by CMD. I asume
its possibly system files on disk as no amount of chkdsk
could clean it.

No, this means that a new hard drive is in your near future. Back up
your data and prepare to buy a new drive and install Windows, etc.
