I originally upgraded to XP Home over Windows 98 SE+.
There have been nothing, but errors and problems in
software and hardware on my computer and I'm at the point
of doing a clean installation of XP Home. I'm a working
student and I know I can't just do something like that on
a Tuesday night before school. I'm wondering how long
does it really take to do a clean installation? Thanks.

Greetings --

A clean installation of the OS, by itself, generally takes roughly
45 minutes, but this will varying greatly from PC to PC, depending
upon the performance capabilities of the underlying hardware. A slow
computer will require more time, and a faster computer less.

The most time-consuming parts of a clean installation are the
backing up and subsequent restoration of data files, downloading and
installation of all of the necessary service packs and subsequent
hotfixes, re-installation and configuration of applications, and the
"personalization" of the computing environment. These processes can
take hours or days, all together.

Make sure you have all of the necessary application installation
CDs and device drivers handy ahead of time, and plan on a long
weekend.... ;-}
