clean install of xp

I have formated my hard disk and when trying to install xp, I get to user
license and agree (F8) then the pc cant find the cd or says it is not a
windows cd? how can I install?

Start by making sure the CD is not smudged or scratched (see if it reads in
another machine). If it's ok, make sure it is a full install XP. If both
of those are true, and it still doesn't work, you may have to run a cleaner
through the CD player.
 
i cant understand why it initially boots and can read the cd until the actual
instal? It is a genuine full xp disk. I can run the recovery consol ok?
Another funny thing is that It does not see my hard drive?
 
If the install doesnt detect any hd its never going to install.

Is the HD detected in the bios?
Is the hd connected to a sata controler that requires the F6 option to
install sata/raid drivers from floppy?
How did you format the hd, the winxp cd has all the tools for
partition/format.
What was the reason for the reinstall?
