Hi,
We have just purchased 25 Optiplex computers from Dell.
I have to set them up with student software and network
settings. Can I ghost the hard driveto a spare disk? If
so, how do I do that from XP? What happens to the XP key -
should I go to regedit and re-insert the actual key?

Thanks
Rich

i *believe* what you can do (someone please correct me if im wrong) is set
up a machine the way you like it, then run sysprep -reseal (you'll need to
lay your hands on this tool, if you buy a 3 pack of XP, it will come with an
OPK CD that will have this tool). this should remove the SID and license
key from your install. then you ghost. when you reboot, you'll be prompted
to enter your product ID and each machine will generate a new unique SID.

Wow - Great idea -

Thanks Bob,
I will try it over the weekend and let you know how it
works.

Thanks again,
Rich

I could not wait until the weekend. I picked up a second
computer and tried this. It worked well, except it did
not ask for XPPro key.

Thanks
Rich
