cisvc.exe runs continously

Has anyone seen a problem where on XP cisvc.exe runs
continously while the system is idle? I've been able
to determine cisvc is a microsoft indexing service but
havn't dug up much more. It's pretty annoying to hear the
disk drive chugging away for 10-15 minutes while the
system is idle.
