Circular arguments

Though I detest circular programming (since it can hide
other programming errors, I think, such as inadvertent
circular programming), I get files I must adapt that use
them. Is there a way that EXCEL will reveal the entire
circular chain for me?

Thx

Just keep clicking the Trace precedent or Trace dependent icons and it will put
in the whole path of arrows eventually.

Thanks Ken. I was hoping that there would be a more
automatic way. Clearly EXCEL knows what the circular
chain is, when it proclaims things to be circular. What I
think I have noticed (by hardwiring certain circular cells
in a chain) is that some of the cells it subsequently
shows as being circular aren't circular at all (such as a
cell with a value in it).

Indeed I had tried your way first but as I also posted on
another message, for some reason the file I received, has
all its trace functions hushed (and does not seem to be
protected). Do you have any idea why?

Ken,

I just got the answer to the hushed part of my problem, so
ignore that part of my last reply.

Thx.

Yes, that was what I was looking for. Thanks.

Have you tried the circular reference toolbar to try and track it down?
