It is not malware nor a virus. Does anyone have any idea what this does? I
have isolated it since it caused my desktop icons to jump to the left
whenever I booted.

Thanks

Googling for "CICache.exe" brought me a link indicating that this file is
connected with a "SIG hi speed 18 in 1 reader [sic]". Got a multi-card
reader? If you have a separate one that you just bought, contact the
mftr.'s tech support.

Malke - found the same link but I have no reader and never installed anything
like it. What has been strangee is that my computer was working fine for a
year and about a week ago I had the icon problem which lead to that file.

Oh well. I will just keep it off my computer.

The folder that CICache.exe is in may be a clue.

Right click CICache.exe | Properties | Version tab

There should be a description on both General and Version tabs.

This info is part of the file and not all files have real good info.
Especially if it is spyware or a virus. Or whoever put it together was lazy
or secretive.

On the Version tab.

Click a category on the left to display the information on the right.

Other version information
Item Name:
Company
File Version
Internal Name
Language
Original File Name
Product Name
Product Version

Sometimes, if someone was really industrious, there is info under the
Summary tab also.

16-bit programs do not have a Version tab.

"Don't Panic"

find and remove the key from you registry , it's in one of the HKLM../RUN
keys

No information for this program in Properties at all. Size is 24 kb.

I disabled it which then made the problem disappear. Evverything else works
so far so I imagine it does do anything I need.

Now, how does on get rid of the enetire entry in msconfig? I found a small
freeware program that does it. Seems Windows should have its own way.
