thanks for your reply. its a HP LAPTOP and it fell from about waist height. I
use a lyncsys wirelss card and the card that was in there when it fell
snapped a little bit but the light still came on when i put it in. the other
card i used is exact same make. only problem is when i put either card in the
computer the lights come on but it just freezes up and nothing happens.
if you need any more info let me know.

I don't know to whom you are talking or what dialog you were having with
Chris, but your laptop is broken. You need to send it back to HP for
repair.

Well, it does seem like you broke your cards.
