Hi there

I will be thankful is somebody can help me with my question. I want to make yahoo mail to be my email client. So, I went to

Internet Options ---> then chose "Programs" tab. In the This tab I see only the following four email options to choose from

HotMai

MSN Explore
Outlook Expres

I wanted to know How can I add "Yahoo Mail" to this list so that it enables me to choose it as my default email client, So that when I click on an email link, anywhere, it launches the Yahoo mail

Thank you in advance, and I hope to here from you guys, soon

by the way, my emai address is you can send the answer to my email address if it is more conveninet for you

Hi Patti

I have another problem maybe you can help me. It is about the Fax service in Windows XP. I had my Fax service working properly and very good before tonight. But tonight when I tried to use it, I faced Problems. The Fax program starts ok, and it even tries to connect with FAX/Modem. But the Fax does not go through. I do not get any messages, except. in the status bar of the Fax Console, I see the messege "All Fax Printer are inaccessable". when I click on this, a small window opens saying "Connection Error"

I reinstalled the Fax components from Windows XP and I still have the same problem

If you know anything about this please help

Thanks

James

Hi James,

You could give this registry edit a try......copy the text that is between
the dashed lines (don't copy the dashed lines themselves), and paste it into
Notepad. Save the Notepad file as faxfix.reg Double-click on the newly
created faxfix.reg file, and opt to merge it into the registry.

--------------------------------------
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Rpc\ClientProtocols]
"ncacn_np"="rpcrt4.dll"
"ncacn_ip_tcp"="rpcrt4.dll"
"ncadg_ip_udp"="rpcrt4.dll"
"ncacn_http"="rpcrt4.dll"
-------------------------------------

Once the above is successfully entered into the registry, Stop and then
Start the fax service (Start>Run key in services.msc and scroll down to
locate Fax...double-click on Fax, and click on Stop, and click on Start
after the service has been stopped)

James;

You've been Hijacked!!

First.
Right click the IE icon | Properties | Advanced tab |
Make sure both of these are NOT checked.

It is known as Scumware. Visit these sites. 1, 2, 3 and 4 are really good.
Download, install, run, update and run again; one or all. They are all
good, FREE utilities.
The first site gives some recommendations.

1) Spybot S & D

2) SpywareBlaster
SpywareBlaster doesn't scan and clean for spyware - it prevents it from ever
being installed.
The most important step you can take is to secure your system. And
SpywareBlaster is the most powerful protection program available.

You're very welcome for the previous help.

I didn't see your message until today, as I was busy installing a new drive
and performing a clean install of XP on a coworker's computer last night.

As Wesley has responded, your friend's computer (and possibly yours as well)
has been "infected" with malware. D/load and run HiJackThis, available here
(scroll down to Official Downloads section):
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html

With all browser windows closed, have HiJackThis perform a Scan, but don't
fix anything yet. Opt to Save the log file. You can then copy/paste the
contents of the log file in a thread at the TomCoyote forums (Hijackthis
Logs And Problems forum):

Hi Patti

I have forwarded your fixes for the "IE Homepage" to my friend. After going to the sites which was recommended in the fixes, he replied to me that he managed solved the problem and he used an EXE file by the name "CWShredder.exe ". The virus he removed was "Trojan.Bookmarker.D". Now I do not know if he has found this fix in the sites, I received from you and Wesley. He also, sent me the following sites, maybe he found this fix in these sites

http://www.kephyr.com/spywarescanner/library/coolwebsearch.olehelp/index.phtm

If you needed the EXE file, I can send it to you in future ([email protected]). I do not know how can I attach any file to this messege

I'll be in touch

right, you cant format your OS partition while youre actually running the
OS. you can either create a DOS type boot floppy and download delpart
(search google) to remove and recreate your partitions, or you should be
able to do it from within XP setup. Just boot off the CD and do a clean
install and when prompted what drive to install it to, you should have
options to delete and create partitions.

Hi Patti,

Long time no talk. Hope you are fine. I need some help with Windows
installation, and I was wondering if you can give me some pointers. Here is
my problem: I want to make a fresh installation of Windows XP or Windows
2000 on my computer. The type of Windows is not an issue. My issue is that I
want to format my whole hard-disk and start from scratch. When I want to
format my primary (C:) partition it refuses to format it and gives this
message says "You can not format or delete this partition because it
contains some setup files needed for some purpose". Mind you that I have
administrative privileges. It seems that I can not get rid of C:. I want to
either remove all the partitions and make new partitions or format each
existing partitions so that I know I am starting from scratch. Just to
explain myself why I want to do that is that, I have problems all the time
because of some viruses and I want to get rid of all the files and start
from scratch. This issue have caused a lot of problems. Please if you can
help me as how I can format all the drives or portions I will be thankful.
