When I run chkdsk with /f mode, on restart I get a flashed
blue screen (too quick to read, pause button does not stop
it)then it restarts again and boots up, usually
successfully. Anyone know the cause of this and how to
correct it?.

Hi,

Here is the instructions how to prevent the computer rebooting on a crash.

right click on my computer and choose properties.
click on the advanced tab.
click on start up and recovery tab button and then in the window do the
following.
uncheck the box "automatically restart" in case of system failure.

now the computer will pause at the Blue screen of death and you can note
down the STOP Error.

Sometimes I get a message like
- Volume is clean -
indicating CHKDSK is done - does not need to run anymore

This is not on a BSOD, but on a chkdsk 2-tone blue screen

BTW, there's a new option in Advanced Options Menu <F8>
- Disable Automatic Restart on System Failure -
to avoid continuous reboot cycle
