chkdsk - how to stop it?

My hdd has 2 partition, c & d and using xp. Everytime I boot up, it will
chkdsk "D" . How can I stop it from sccanning each time I boot up ? TIA

It would also be smart to run a diagnostic on the hard drive. Get the
diagnostic utility from the drive mftr.'s website. You will make a
bootable cd or floppy with the file you download. Boot with the media
you made and do a thorough test of the drive. If it has any physical
errors, it is time to replace the drive.

This happens when Windows note down an entry in registry that one of your
partition is bad even it is not.

Click Start - Run - type Regedit and press enter.
Press F3 key and type BootExecute (without space).
Double-click on the BootExecute entry from the right side pane and delete
the value like "autocheck autochk (your drive letter)".
