I am using a p4 1.7ghz system with 256mb ram with a 60gb
hard drive with three partitions. I have to schedule
chkdsk /f to run at next boot, but funny thing is, when I
reboot I get the usual message that a chkdsk has been
scheduled to run but only it says press any key to stop it
within 46,200 seconds? What? 12 hours? Has anybody seen
this before? Is there a switch in the registry that
controls the amount of seconds for this function? I
didn't change anything in my registry, is it possible that
my system has been compromised?

The chkntfs.exe command-line tool can be used to change the
autochk.exe initiation countdown time to the specified amount of
time entered in seconds [from 0 seconds to up to 3 days
(259,200 seconds)].

For "chkntfs" syntax search the Windows XP Professional Help
and Support Center for the word in double-quotes and read the
Suggested Topic by that title.

Not sure. You may want to try posting in the Windows XP

/t[:time] : Changes the Autochk.exe initiation countdown time
to the specified amount of time entered in seconds.
