Does anyone know how I can input Chinese characters into
my documents? Is there anything that I should download?
I'm using Win XP Home edition. And by the way, what's the
difference between XP home, pro and Office XP?

My Computer/Control Panel/Regional and Language Options and check the box
"Install files for east asian languages"

Windows XP Home is an operating system that does not support
as many features for networking and security that Windows XP
Pro offers.

Office XP (Standard, Pro, others) is a collection of
applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, database,
and presentation.

In addition to check regional and language settings of the OS, a several
alternatives you may consider:

(1) Purchase multi-language pack for your OS that will give you more
integrated language support. However, I am not sure if it's available for
Home or just for Pro.
(2) I remember somewhere in MS Knowledgebase that you can download limited
support for certain languages in interfaces and input. It is free but very
limited.
(3) You can also do the (1) & (2) for Office suit. Office also has multiple
language pack and some download.

For me, I am using English version of XP Pro with Chinese language pack
which gives me the ability to read and input Chinese.
But be careful, if any applications is not written in uni-code, you will see
some random characters. Anyway, find some multi-language support articles
from MS Knowledgebase for the best one for you.
