Dear Mr./Miss

I have just been reading one of your messages online and you seem to
be the sort of person who might know the answer to a question that I
have been searching the answer to…

Do you know what would happen if I loaded a Chinese package onto an
English language version of Microsoft XP? Would I need to load the
appropriate IME first and if so, would the end result be very similar
as if I had loaded the package onto a Chinese version of Microsoft XP
(i.e. would the drop down menus and help files be in Chinese? Would
the icons be localised (the Chinese version of Corel Draw shows a
couple of cultural icons when loaded on the Chinese version of
Microsoft XP) or would the icons all show in English?

If you know the answers it would be good to hear from you!

Many thanks

In order to install a program written in Chinese, you would
need to be using a Chinese version of Windows XP.

do you mean that the code is in Chinese? :-)

I think that it is possible to install a Chinese version of software into
WinXP English although I wouldn't recommend it, partly due to the interface
of the software unless the software allows different languages in the
interface

Have tried installing a Thai/Eng dictionary into WinXP English and it works

Hi,

For about 50% of software written for a different language OS will work on
an English OS computer with no problems, the other 50% depends on how it was
written. I have been living in Japan for almost 10 years now and have
installed various Japanese programs on my English OS computers. The OS`s I
used Japanese programs on were Win2K and XP Pro SP1 and SP2. So far for me,
I have been able to run all the Japanese programs, just the install windows
looks screwy, but if you know what buttons are what you can install them.
Most programs have their own fonts built into the software, so when its
running, it will show the proper fonts. I haven`t tried to install any
Chinese version software, but I can tell you about my experience with
Japanese software.
