This morning I had a problem launching my Windows XP
Pro. It kept telling me that my system32 folder was
missing or corrupt. For what ever reason, after about 4
hours of tinkering, if finnaly booted up. I would now
like to check the system32 folder for any problems that
might be in it but I don't know how to do that. If I
remember correctly, in Windows 2000, I was able to have
the opperating system do it for me. How do I do that
with XP Pro? Any other suggestions. I don't want this to
happen again. Any thoughts as to what might have happened?

Go to a command prompt and type

sfc /scannow

You'll need your WinXP CD.
