I am using Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.1.2600 Build 2600

How can I check whether I am behind a firewall. If yes, how to put it
off?

I have a broadband connection. Is this related to firewall?
I have Trend Micro Office Scan Client antivirus. Is this related to
firewall?

Open up your control panel and at the bottom you will see a choice for
windows firewall. This will open a screen where you can make a choice
to enable the firewall or disable it. Default is enabled.

If you do not have an alternative firewall to use in place of the Windows
firewall you had better leave it <ON>.

Don't run without one, for your safety and the safety of other internet
users.

It is estimated that 5% of all computers have been takes over by malware. Do
you want yours to be part of that group?

I agree. We firewall the routers to protect the network also.

Hi Maxi

Right Click on My Computer

In the popup, Click Manage

In the Dialog, Expand Services and Applications
Click Services

You will find a long list of Services that contribute to make your life
a 'flowerbed'

Scroll Down to Windows firewall

See its status. If you you are behind it Status will say 'Started'

To chage the settings,
Right Click on Windows Firewall > Properties

In the dialog you will find a command button marked Stop.
In the combo. Select Disable

Click Apply and OK

By any luck you can be 'happy for a while' (XP will find a way to
change that 'State')

Broad Band has nothing to do with it.

Thank you everyone for your help.

I am not behind a firewall. Actually I was trying to use CZDC++ to
connect to LAN in my area. Its been over 15 days but I am not able to
connect.

I think I will have to look out for local guys to check out settings on
my computer.

Thanks
