check to see if execel is open

Is there some way to verify to see whether an instance of excel is
running on a pc from within Access VBA?

I would like to inform the end-user to close Excel whenver I'm running
a specific routine from with Microsoft Access.

And while not relevant in this case (since the sample shows the class name
for Excel), you can determine the class name of any arbitrary application
using the code in http://www.mvps.org/access/api/api0013.htm
