"Do you mean malicious content ?, like drive-by installs, Malware and ActiveX modules"
Yes sir! Malke said in his/her response (thanks Malke)
use sfc/scannow but I get a "windows cannot find sfc/scannow" message in response.
I've deleted a fair number of "suspicious" files to keep my PC running after a Malware attack
and I just wondered if I can do anything to check whether or not I've got all the files I need without
installing XP from scratch again. (I'd also like to find out if I've still got any I shouldn't have - h323msp.dll
springs to mind!)
| Not sure I follow the context of the your phrase "Right Files/Folders".
| Windows XP employs Windows File Protection. It (WFP) uses the
| System File Checker to quietly replace any system monitored files that
| get replaced by 3rd-Party applications and drivers.
| Do you mean malicious content ?, like drive-by installs, Malware and
| ActiveX modules.

| | Hi.
|
| Is there some facility one can run which will check that a user has exactly
| the right files/folders installed on a PC loaded with Windows XP SP2? In
| other words, be able to identify any files or folders which should NOT be
| present!
