Hello,

Wondering if anyone has any experience with these cheap software sites:

soft-unlimited.com
edirectsoftware.com

These sites offer FP and the latest versions of a lot of other web design
software at VERY cheap prices and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if
there are any downfalls to purchasing this route. I don't like, for
instance, how soft-unlimited.com doesn't have a phone # for contact purposes
but they have the cheapest software I've found on the net.

Thanks,
Beverly

Products Questions:
1. Why are the prices on DSP software that low?
As a rule software manufacturers supply system integrating companies
with all the products required at greatly reduced prices.
DSP software are not supposed to come with any box and a small printed
manual that are icluded into a retail version. Using DSP software a PC user
will not be provided with any technical support from the software
manufacturer, because of the considerable support savings the DSP vendors
have an opportunity to offer this software for sale at a low price. All this
makes purchasing of DSP software an excellent cost-saving bargain.
2. Does DSP software come with a COA (Certificate Of Authenticity)
label?
Since DSP software is used for building large computer systems, it
does not go with any COA.
3. Will it be possible for me to get any updates from the sites of the
software manufacturers?
Most manufacturers allow upgrades for DSP versions.
However you may have problems with getting some of the DSP programs
updated.

and this -

The DSP software is absolutely identical to the software found in a full
version retail box product. The difference is a printed manual and a box
that come with a retail version. DSP software is usually distributed without
a box and a printed manual included. As well as OEM, DSP versions often come
with only an electronic help manual which is built into the software.
Purchasing DSP software one get the full version of the program recorded on
a CD-ROM disk and the serial number required for the installation of the
program.

'nuff said?

No COA normally = pirate/illegal
Good luck getting it activated ;-)

I read all that on their website but I still wonder if there's more of a
catch somewhere. Like - are there some functionalities missing from the
software? Is this legal? Is this company dependable or will they runoff
with the money, etc? Do you get damaged disks? I would really like to hear
from anyone who has actually purchased from one of these companies.

I can't speak specifically for those sites, but one instance where a friend
bought the OEM version of Word.

It was the German version :P

Macromedia doesn't do OEM software. Yet there's tons of it there.

Hmmm - wonder what that means?

Sorry, I'm full of antihistamines and decongestants at the moment, I
wasn't clear that's what I was meaning.
