Chart goes to zero

create your chart then go tools>options chart tab and change plot empty cell
to either not plotted or interpolated

Your right, i didn't not read your post correctly to see you were using an
area graph. You have to plot the zero on this type of graph. to get round
this you could use auto filter and select greater than zero then plot from
the filtered data. The graph will change back if you remove the filter but
you can copy and paste it as an image into word if you need to keep it as a
graph of the filtered data

Just found out you can select the chart and shift+edit and you can copy it as
a picture in excel to save you having to paset it into word

Just shows you can learn something every day

Thanks again John, but the auto filter only works vertically, and the source
data isn't arranged that way. Even if it did, I think the time scale in
X-axis will be hided too, and that is not what I want.

You will have to insert an interpolated value into the cell, or perhaps a
formula which interpolates for you. It could be as simple as a formula that
averages the values on either side. In cell D3 this would be:

=(C3+E3)/2
